She Came, She Saw, She Conquered Us with Amazing Work!

Debra Gabel plus inspiring quilts plus Kathy B’s famous lemon cream pie all add up to a fabulous weekend. One participant said, “It truly was amazing! I am so jealous of all of you who will be taking the workshop tomorrow! I should be sleeping, but my mind is working overtime to take in all of the inspiring things I learned tonight! Debra, it was awesome!”
Debra thought the Gals were pretty awesome too judging by her Facebook post, “Thanks to all you wonderful NY quilters in Syracuse! It was fun to meet you all! Janet and her shop rocks! Learn to Sew! It’s sew much fun!
Here is a photo of Janet’s daughter Jolene with the pillow she made in the Learn to Sew class. In this fun class for beginners, you learn how to make a pillow from one of your old t-shirts. All supplies (except the t-shirt) are included in the class fee of $50. And if you act fast, you can save $25 with a Living Social deal good at either the Syracuse or Oswego store.

Machine Quilting with Wenda Coburn
Syracuse, Saturday, August 6, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
This is the class for those who enjoy making quilt tops, but have trouble completing the project. Take this class and learn all the basics of quilting your quilts on your own sewing machine. Wenda will begin by teaching important basting techniques and move on to straight line and free motion quilting. Class includes demonstrations and discussions of tips and tools that will improve your stitches. Bring your machine, threads and muslin squares to practice your new skills. Fee: $25

The UFO Bag

Syracuse, Saturday, August 6, 2:00 – 5:00 pm
Do you have a UFO that will never end up being a quilt? Bring it to class and turn it into a bag! Learn some great bag construction tips from Wenda, a bag lady who quilts! This project is a great weekender tote or handy for bringing your supplies to class. Also makes a really good diaper bag for a new mom. Students need to bring a quilted piece to class – start with a UFO or pretty piece of fabric. Fee: $25
Embroidery 101 with Gay Silkey
Syracuse, Sunday, August 7, 12:30 – 3:00 pm
New class! Gay has been stitching since she was a small child. Learn three classic stitches in the class to use in a large number of embroidery projects. Leave the class with confidence to stitch numerous embroidery patterns. Perfect class for anyone who has never embroidered or anyone needing to refresh their skills. Class covers basic knowledge of thread, needles and stitches. Pick up a class kit with everything you need to complete a beautiful cotton tea towel: thread, needles, tea towel, hoop, and pattern. Fee: $25
